Diagnosis of tooth decay
The standard examination procedures where a mirror and dental explorer are used leaves as many as 70 percent of dental cavities unidentified. To obtain better results, we have also incorporated a more effective means of diagnosis into our standard processes of examination, namely the making of biting RTG x-ray pictures, which are capable of revealing cavities or decay in the spaces between the teeth as well as under the fillings. Moreover, these x-ray pictures also help identify areas with a higher risk of dental cavity formation by means of a laser. The above-mentioned procedure enables us to assess the changes to the enamel and subsequently resort to either an ozone treatment (without drilling), or an appropriate filling.
Ozone treatment of tooth decay
Through the application of ozone, it is possible to perform the painless examination and treatment of dental decay in the enamel without any drilling. Only 20 seconds after the application of ozone, it is possible to eliminate as much as 99.9 percent of bacteria causing cavities. After such treatment, the dental tissues recover their ability to re-mineralize and such mineralization is further promoted through the application of fluoride after treatment. Moreover, ozone can be used for the treatment of sensitive dental hypersensitivity or aphthae, herpes or gum inflammation, where the ozone not only enhances the healing process, but has analgetic effects as well. When treating dental fillings, we also utilize ozone to eliminate the remaining bacteria in the areas of the cavity or root canal.
Treatment with fillings
The main aim of treating tooth decay is the overall reconstruction of the particular tooth and returning it to its original state. If possible, we always try to restore the tooth into its original state within a single appointment by using aesthetic materials. The whole treatment is painless. After removing and cleaning the deteriorated part of the tooth, we replace the particular space with nano-composite materials. These materials have excellent aesthetic characteristics in the front teeth area as well as high resistance and durability when applied in the rear teeth areas. In accordance with the latest trends, the preparation is limited exclusively to the affected, deteriorated areas of a tooth and we work to ensure that no damage is caused to remaining dental tissues. When necessary, ozone application is used to disinfect the preparation, hereby eliminating bacteria and decreasing the risk of possible sensitivity after the treatment.The advantage of these materials is that they may be used fully immediately following treatment i.e. the patient can eat.
If a filling can not be applied directly, due to excessive tooth damage, we suggest another type of aesthetic solution, either the application of an indirect filling (laboratory produced), veneer or dental crown. You will, naturally, be given a temporary substitute which fulfills basic aesthetic and functional criteria to allow you to be fully functional until you are fitted with a definite solution.
