Veneers are the ideal solution to covering imperfections of the front teeth. They are often used if the patient wants to modify his or her teeth and make changes to the color, shape or position. The advantage of this treatment is that work carried out on the front surface of the tooth is minimal. Filing in this case is not as extensive as for a crown. The prepared front surface is normally a little wider, approximately 0.5 – 0.8 mm. It is possible to use either thin composite or ceramic veneers. After filing the tooth into the desired shape, provisional veneers are inserted which protect until the permanent veneers have been prepared.
